David Price Smith

David works as a musculoskeletal Physiotherapist at PhysioSpace and Cardiff and Vale University Health Board. His vast and varied experience in musculoskeletal and orthopaedic conditions give him the perfect knowledge and skill to treat his patients. David will combine his expertise in manual therapy, strength and conditioning and functional performance to achieve successful outcomes for his patients.

David is passionate about helping patients to achieve their goals, whether that is recovery from injury, optimising performance, pain management, post operative care, management of chronic conditions or achieving functional goals. He listens closely to patients, to understand their story and what is important to them. A key component of David’s treatment is giving patients the knowledge and confidence to achieve their goals and continue to manage their own health independently.

He is experienced across musculoskeletal pathways, having worked in primary care, outpatient clinics, emergency units, and trauma and elective orthopaedic surgical wards.  As well as helping him manage a variety of pathologies, David is able thoroughly discuss with patients when it is appropriate to refer for investigations, such as x-ray, MRI or ultrasound, or when to see specialist services such as orthopaedics or rheumatology. David is also able to provide corticosteroid joint and soft tissue injections, having completed master level training.

David has particular interest in acute injuries, managing chronic pathologies, lower limb and shoulder pathologies, and back pain with or without sciatica.

When not working David enjoys spending time with his wife and 2 young daughters, getting out and looking for adventures, particularly at the beach, and on or in the water. His hobbies include snowboarding, paddleboarding, cycling (road and mountain biking), running, and workouts at home.  He previously played rugby for his home club in Dorset and whilst studying physiotherapy played for Cardiff Medicals RFC. He has previously completed a degree in Sport and Exercise Science and studying at Cardiff University for an MSc in Advanced Clinical Practice.
